Struck
Designed for the sake of the process. This custom ring design turned out so cool I made a whole trailer for it. Made in Blender and After Effects, the design, model, texturing, rendering and editing process was a packaged deal of all the skills I’ve been learning the last couple of years. It felt great to stretch my wings a little and bring something to life.

The project
-
Designing it
I’d recently designed and modeled 2 rings. Both of those had been very feminine and organically shaped. This one I wanted to be different, but look like it could sit next to those other ones at the same time. This time I wanted to make something I felt I would wear. Something simple, but powerful.
-
Crafting It
I wanted a ring made of nature; wood, meteorite, gold, iron, and the crown of diamonds. I wanted the ring to be made of things that make up the Earth and other planets. Then I wanted a video showcasing all of that coming together.
-
Blowing it all up
The idea for making a “trailer” for the ring came after the model was made. I then spent about two weeks working on the rest of the video using programs such as Blender and After Effects to make some cinematic shots.
